I read that you've consulted with an attorney and I know that this is because of your frustration, but I believe that he/she will tell you the same thing. The problem was with the gaskets themselves. It hasn't created any issues other than the noise at the moment.....at least that I'm aware of.
It's too low and has a bit of extra noise. I believe it was ok as long as change intervals were maintained. It specifically says that any oil is acceptable as long as it meets the specific classifications set in the manual. No, I did not change my mind. C'mon Mike, you know that as long as the oil (synthetic or regular) is the proper grade and quality - and that it's changed regularly, that it's acceptable. 2. Wish the 3.0 h6 was an option.

Have you contacted Subaru of America (not the dealer) about the noise? I was mostly concerned that there might be a leak in something expensive such as head gasket, oil pump, etc - but just a little dab on the oil filter. It IS piston slap......and they did NOT say that it was normal.

Just checked my owners manual for oil specs. Dislike is it's only a 4 cylinder and it's a 5 speed manual
At this point the rpms go right past idle and the engine dies.
What I have used has met that from the beginning. The only problem I have had so far with my vehicle is rusting and changing out a few parts. One way to narrow down the issue is to take a screw driver, place it against the head/valve cover on each side and put an ear up to the butt of the driver. 7 CD ports. I drove to visit my brother in Madison WI. Sounds corny but I switched to mid-grade fuel and synthetic oil.

The dealer has even thanked me 4 times for remaining calm, through out this situation. I changed the oil and filter and still notice a small amount. At this point I don't see anything on the ground - there is a plastic cowling under the filter so any oil is caught there. Still, that gets annoying. Dear Baja owners, Can anyone give me advice. They just suggested that it was no better than the dino oil and that in their eyes was a waste of money. I just bought a Subaru - Baja last week 10-22-03.
I would expect to be given a explanation of the cause and repair if any at that time.

Has it created any problems running or is it just a noise issue? After some searching online for answers I have found that I could have a waterpump recall but since I have never recieved any notice can only assume that the recall in question doesn't affect my car. They were supposed to be all fixed by 2003, but some bad ones did make their way into the Bajas. it sounds like air and/or fuel flow is being impeded. I love this model..
